Each heat matches one cigar against another and then the best cigars are whittled down to the Semi Finals and Finals.

The Boisdale Cigar Olympics 2016 Heat 4 at Boisdale of Belgravia in partnership with Hunters and Frankau and Marblehead Brand development

This is the fourth heat of the Boisdale Cigar Olympics 2016. The final will be held on the terrace at Boisdale of Canary Wharf on the 13 July 2016.

Round four - a blind tasting of 2 cigars

H.Upmann Petit Corona – Created as a brand in 1844 by a German banker. Herman Upmann also opened a bank but was clearly much better at making cigars than he was with money as the bank closed down but his cigars remain in production today. Classified as light to medium in strength, this is a classic slightly pressed Petit Corona with a distinctive and pleasant taste.

Sancho Panza Non Plus – another Havana cigar brand whose name has been taken from a famous work of literature. Sancho Panza was the faithful servant to Don Quixote in Miguel de Cervantes novel and has been known as a cigar brand since 1848. Dan Pink from Hunters and Frankau will be hosting and adjudicating the proceedings

Dominic Tait will be hosting the drinks element. Guests will be tasting Don Papa 10 year old aged rum and 16 year old Glen Moray Speyside single malt Scotch whisky with each event.

The Glen Moray 16 years old single malt whisky has a rich and mature nose and a smooth and exceptionally well-rounded taste. Flavours of toffee, progress to mint humbugs and barley sugar, followed by a hint of smoke and peat flavours with a long finish.

Distilled on the island of Negros Occidental in the Philippines and aged for 10 years in American oak in the foothills of Mount Kanlaon, Don Papa 10 is dark amber in colour, deep, rich and powerful on the nose, with a delicate tingle in the mouth, exuding bold flavours of dried fruits and cacao, with just a hint of oak.

The Boisdale Cigar Olympics 2016 are being held at Boisdale in Canary Wharf or Boisdale Belgravia.

There are seven heats during which there will be a tasting of eight Mareva Vitola cigars blind. The final

will be held on the terrace of Boisdale Canary Wharf on 13th July 2016. Obviously we are now on to Heat 4 now. Guests will also be tasting 16 year old Glen Moray Single Malt Whisky from Speyside and Don Papa 10 year old aged Rum.
