Crummbs March Round-Up

let’s begin

Our monthly round up of all the hottest restaurants, bars, pop-ups and all round delicious eats.

Spring has officially sprung and our favourite restaurants are following suit with fresh new menus.

Sea Containers at Mondrian kicked things off with their great value Spring on the Southbank offer. 30 quid will get you three substantial courses, with views of St Paul’s thrown in for free. If the weather’s on side you’ll appreciate the floor to ceiling windows letting spring right in. Don’t end your night there, Dandelyan is just next door and well worth popping into (IF you can get a table).

Speaking of hot bars, Tony Conigliaro (69 Colebrooke Row) opened the doors to Untitled Bar this month and it lived up to all the hype. Inspired by Andy Warhol’s iconic Silver Factory, the drinks are crazy but it’s very good fun.

We finally got round to visiting the pink palace that is Palm Vaults (you might have seen it all over Instagram) and appreciated the edible flowers sprinkled over just about everything. A good way of bringing the outside in while we wait for the sun to shine full time.

If it is shining however, head straight to the roof for brunch at Morty & Bob’s residency at NT’s. Crab and avocado on toast with a mimosa in hand tastes even better al fresco.

Looking for even more booze? Pizzabuzz have launched a bottomless option – because who doesn’t want bubbles and pizza for breakfast? And at the other end of the Italian spectrum, Gotto offers handmade pasta right on the Hackney Riviera – just add a homemade vermouth.

May might have just triggered Article 50 but new French restaurant Bon Vivant are serving the most decadent of Parisian treats including Bavette Steak with truffled spinach. They’ve even bought their own woven bistro chairs with them from Paris – perfect for a spot of people watching.

Back on the Southbank and Allan Pickett has taken over at Swan at Shakespeare’s Globe. Expect hearty, British, comfort food. More comfort food, but this time by way of Asia, Tang dished up hearty bowls of noodles on Great Russell Street.

Buy hey, March was a LONG month, and King of the Chops, Blacklock have opened a second site in the City and you can still nab 50% off.

Junkyard Golf is also a good bet for a cheap date. A tenner will get you a game of crazy golf on one of their four courses.

Looking to brush up on your skills? There is now a Sushi University in Leadenhall Market teaching you to dice, slice, chop and roll sushi to the highest standards. Borough Market have also got a series of talks bringing together some of the most well respected names from the world of food.

Restaurant of the Month has to go too…. Well it’s less of a restaurant and more of a pop-up but Adam Rawson’s 12 course Japanese Sakura menu below Borough Wines was a delight. Definitely one to watch.
