Big Peat Reveals Christmas 2016 Limited Edition

let’s begin

Douglas Laing & Co, the family Scotch Whisky firm, has unveiled its festive offering – Big Peat Christmas 2016, an “All Islay”, Cask Strength Limited Edition.

The new release marks the 6th Big Peat Christmas Edition, though this particular bottling is unlike any bottling ever released by the firm before. Traditionally a marriage of primarily Ardbeg, Bowmore, CaolIla and Port Ellen, this one-off Big Peat Limited Edition vatting includes all active distilleries on Islay, plus the long-closed, elusive and exclusive Port Ellen. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 54.6%, the new Christmas release is proudly without colouring or chill-filtration, in line with the Douglas Laing family philosophy to bottle “as natural as it gets”.

True to the family firm’s “Brand Innovators of the Year 2016” accolade, no attention to detail was spared in creating the packaging for this special release. A bespoke, vibrant illustration shows Big Peat by the fireside of his cosy Islay home, with 9 Christmas stockings hanging from his fireplace, representing the 9 Single Malt Scotch Whiskies included in this special, one-off Big Peat Christmas recipe. Fans of Big Peat may also recognise his “Remarkable Regional Malts” pals – with bottles of The Epicurean, Timorous Beastie, Scallywag and Rock Oyster peeking out from his Santa sack of goodies.

Marketing Manager, Jenny Rogerson, comments: “Big Peat’s annual Christmas release has become a hotly anticipated bottling by friends of our peaty Ileach fisherman across the globe. We’re more excited than ever to reveal this year’s Limited Edition,an undisputedly innovative product in terms of both spirit and packaging.”

Just 2500 cases of Big Peat Christmas 2016 will be available globally via specialist Whisky retailers from September 2016.

ABOUT BIG PEAT

Launched in 2009, Big Peat is a remarkable marriage of Malt Whiskies only from the island of Islay. “He” is proudly without colouring or chill-filtration and bottled at high alcohol strength (46%), resulting in a naturally oily spirit that promises an incredible mouth-feel. With CaolIla spirit bringing sweetness, Bowmore the perfect balance, Ardbeg the medicinal, earthy quality and Port Ellen, a degree of elegance, Big Peat represents all that is Islay in a bottle.
