Reviewing the New Jura One for You Single Malt Scotch Whisky Release

let’s begin

Jura One for You is a brilliant inclusion to the distillery’s range celebrating the community on their island home.

The Brand

Finding their home on the isle of Jura, this distillery has been around since 1810. They are very close to their roots, being one of the biggest tourist attractions on the island.

In fact the island is a huge part of the brand’s focus and they often celebrate the small but close community who contribute to the making of Jura. The island itself is tony, with only around 200 residents. It is tiny, at only 142 square miles, so it makes sense that the distillery is a major part of life.

The people from Jura are known as Diurachs and they are fiercely proud of their heritage. This is what lead them to buying the distillery itself in the 1950s, breathing new life into a distillery that had fallen into ruin.

The Jura One for You Single Malt

Bottle cost: £130

So this malt, One for You, has been released as part of a range released with the Diurachs in mind. This is the concluding expression in the range, which already includes One for the Road, released in 2016 and One for All, released in 2017.

It has been described by Distillery Manager Graham Logan, ‘This special limited-edition expression has been created with our extended community in mind; with flavours of honey, vanilla, almond and white chocolate, it is the perfect whisky to toast those who embrace the Jura spirit worldwide.’

The nose opens with sweet nuts and white chocolate. It is light and sugary. Burnt white sugar adds a little depth and heat. Dried fruits, such as raisins and apricots also appear, adding a bit of texture to the overall feel of the dram.

The palate is equally sweet and fruity. It has almonds, marzipan, fruitcake, caramel and treacle. Clotted cream and milk chocolate are also there. The caramel lends a smooth and easy going mouth feel. It is soft and warm with a delicate spice to it.

The finish is dry and sweet. Raisins and dried apricots really come through with a little hint of oak wood.

Whether you’re a Duirach or not, Jura One for You is a very good dram that can be enjoyed very easily.
