Recapping The GreatDrams Peaty Whisky Tasting Evening

let’s begin

On a cold night in West London, Greg of GreatDrams hosted 25 people at Electric Coffee for a night of peaty whisky tasting.

Whiskies sampled included expressions from:

The Ardmore
Bowmore
Bunnahabhain
Laphroaig and
Ardbeg
Plus a cheeky blind tasting teaser dram of The Black Grouse to see what the group thought of a a blended Scotch whisky ahead of the single malts of the evening (without knowing what it is).

The event itself was great fun, lots of great chat a healthy mixture of GreatDrams regulars and new faces which is always good fun.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to come along and I look forward to seeing you at the next GreatDrams events:

St. Patrick’s Day Irish Extravaganza – March 17th 2015

Until next time, here’s a few photos…

  1. Very Informative – well done Greg!
Another good opportunity to meet new faces over the teaser dram of The Black Grouse (its Famous Grouse stable mate is my fall-back blended whisky of choice when there are no reasonably-priced single-malts available)
Of the 5 Whiskies available to sample in the tasting:
The Ardmore – a very pleasant start to the evening’s “flight”
Bowmore – the least satisfactory to my tate-buds – too antiseptic tasting?
Bunnahabhain — (pronounced bu-na-ha-ven) – a lovely floral whisky I had not encountered before
Laphroaig – my personal favourite of long-standing
Ardbeg – a very good peaty malt

Yet again a friendly and well-organised event … definitely a good idea to have some food available — the pulled pork burgers were delicious!
