I rarely feel like joining tings like this, but when one of my favourite whisky bloggers, The Whisky Lady, posted her #WhiskyTag post a few weeks ago I figured why the hell not.

The idea is that I answer a series of whisky questions around a theme and then you take the baton and answer the same questions to get a load of us sharing about our whisky experiences… just for fun.

The questions are:

First ever sipped
First bottle you bought
Favourite in your collection
A very popular whisky you have never tasted yet
Last one you’ve been offered (samples count)
Last one you offered (samples count)
Current number one on your wishlist
If you could come back in time, which sleeping distillery would you never close
First distillery visited
Last Distillery visited
Whisky-producing country you wish to visit next
The whisky you bought mainly because of its packaging
The last unexpected surprise
Last bottle you bought

So, here goes, my answers are…

First ever sipped: Teacher’s, swiftly followed by Ardmore Centenary and Laphroaig 10

First bottle you bought: Hibiki 17 Year Old, whilst in Tokyo

Favourite in your collection: Ah you can’t have favourites! But of course I do… Laphroaig 30 Year Old distilled in 1985, Scapa 23 Year Old single cask sherry matured, Port Ellen 32 Year Old

A very popular whisky you have never tasted yet: Hmmm good question… The Glenlivet 12 I think…

Last one you’ve been offered (samples count): Bruichladdich Rare Cask Series (1985 was delicious)

Last one you offered (samples count): I sent a sample of St. Magdalene 1975 out to Tom Thomson, legendary whisky blogger behind Tom’s Whisky Reviews

Current number one on your wishlist: Big Peat 25 Year Old – two bottles literally just arrived as I am typing this so cannot wait to dive in

If you could come back in time, which sleeping distillery would you never close: Rosebank / St. Magdalene

First distillery visited: Bushmill’s, but in Scotland it was Ardmore for a client project a fair few years ago

Last Distillery visited: Glentauchers

Whisky-producing country you wish to visit next: Japan – been far too long since I’ve been, and never visited a distillery there

The whisky you bought mainly because of its packaging: So many in my collection! Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Winter Storm, Craigellachie 23 Year Old, Johnnie Walker Blue Label London Edition, Chivas Regal 25 Year Old, The Glenlivet Cipher, Paddy Centenary, The Dalmore 25 Year Old… and so many more…

The last unexpected surprise: Shackleton – stunning drop from the wizard that is Richard Paterson

Last bottle you bought: Big Peat 25 Year Old…

Now – #WhiskyTag – its your turn… copy the questions above into either a post on your own blog or into the comments below and answer them… there will be a prize at random for one lucky respondent!
